Municipal Paving Crew Personnel – Grande Prairie
Knelsen provides premier road construction, concrete, and precast 
products and services throughout Alberta, including Cold Lake, Grande Prairie, Peace River, 
High Level, La Crete, Edmonton, Red Deer, Balzac and Calgary.

Overview:
We are looking to fill the following positions in our Grande Prairie location:
Paving Crew Personnel
- Experienced Asphalt Raker/Grounds Person
- Experienced Asphalt Roller Operators (Finish or Breakdown)
- Experienced Screed Operator (5 years’ experience minimum)
- Skid Steer Operator (2 years’ experience on a paving crew)

Responsibilities:

Asphalt Raker/Grounds Person
• Fine-tune the asphalt mat, ensuring it is even and free of imperfections. This involves 
spreading the asphalt to fill low spots and shaving off high spots to achieve a smooth 
surface, ensuring a consistent and high-quality finish.
Asphalt Roller Operators (Finish or Breakdown)
• Responsible for operating rollers to compress the asphalt layer that is laid on top of the 
base layer.

Screed Operator
• Responsible for ensuring the quality and smoothness of the asphalt surface.
Skid Steer Operator
• Create clean and precise edges for asphalt surfaces, remove loose or excess asphalt to 
ensure a smooth surface and fill in areas that the paver cannot reach.

Qualifications:
General Qualifications:
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
• Must possess a minimum valid class 5 driver’s license.
• Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Meet all Safety requirements and policies by leading by example in maintaining a safe 
work site.
• Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to travel to and from the work site (as well 
as operate company vehicles).
• Good physical condition and stamina and able to meet the demands of the job with the 
ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• As this is a safety sensitive position, pre-employment drug screening is in effect.
Asphalt Raker/Grounds Person/Roller and Skid Steer
• 2 years’ experience on a paving crew

Screed Operator
• 5 years’ experience operating a screed on a paving crew
