Position Summary: 
The Entry-Level Purchaser/Receiver supports the procurement function by assisting with the review and processing of purchase requisitions and acting as a point of contact between internal users and suppliers as required. This role is responsible for ensuring that purchased goods and services are accurately received, documented, and entered into the system in a timely manner. The position works closely with the Purchasing, Warehouse, and Accounts Payable teams to support invoice processing and record accuracy. Reception and administrative duties may be required as needed. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Support the maintenance of positive working relationships with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and accurate order fulfillment. 
  • Assist with issuing approved purchase orders and change orders to suppliers. 
  • Submit RFQs to approved suppliers under existing MSA and/or T&C agreements as directed. 
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding delivery dates, order status, and discrepancies. 
  • Track and follow up on outstanding purchase orders to support on-time receipt. 
  • Review and process purchase requisitions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with purchasing procedures. 
  • Receive and verify delivered goods against purchase orders and packing slips. 
  • Report shortages, damages, or discrepancies to the appropriate internal teams and suppliers. 
  • Assist with coordinating returns, replacements, and credits when required. 
  • Accurately enter purchase orders, receiving information, and invoices into the system. 
  • Update and maintain Vendor / Supplier databases to ensure information is current and accurate. 
  • Maintain purchase order reports and receiving logs. 
  • Ensure documentation is properly filed and easily retrievable for audit and reference purposes. 
  • Support Accounts Payable by matching purchase orders, receiving documents, and invoices. 
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Warehouse, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure procurement activities support business needs. 
  • Communicate with Project Managers, Engineers, and internal requestors regarding order status and receipt of materials. 
  • Provide administrative support to the Purchasing team as required. 
  • Follow established purchasing and receiving procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy. 
  • Identify process inefficiencies or data discrepancies and report them to the Purchasing team. 
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to procurement and inventory processes. 
  • Ensure procurement documentation and receiving records meet company policies and procedures. 
  • Support efforts to minimize errors, delays, and supply disruptions through accurate data entry and timely follow-up. 
  • Follow all company policies and procedures. 
  • All other duties as required that are customary in the same or similar role. 

Qualifications & Requirements: 
  • Previous experience in a purchasing role, with solid knowledge of procurement processes, negotiation, and cost analysis 
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a high-stress environment 
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and order management 
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and experience with Microsoft Business Central 
  • Strong communication and organizational skills 

Additional Information: 
  • This is not a remote position and is based out of our Edmonton office. The successful candidate will be required to work in-office.
