Description

Our team is looking for a full-time Heavy-Duty Mechanic Apprentice for our Edmonton, Alberta location. Here’s what you can expect when working with us:

Responsibilities
  • Work under the guidance of experienced mechanics to learn diagnostic and repair techniques.
  • Use diagnostic tools and software to identify faults and malfunctions.
  • Learn to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and drawings to troubleshoot issues.
  • Assist in the disassembly, repair, and reassembly of engines, transmissions, and other components.
  • Replace or repair defective parts, components, or systems.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities comply with safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed on vehicles, utilizing the Fixx app.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures. Ensure that all equipment operates safely and efficiently.
  • Report progress and issues to direct supervisor.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized, ensuring a safe and efficient workspace.
  • Deliver high-quality work that meets or exceeds specifications and standards.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and conducting regular safety checks.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, acts, injuries and other accidents to the Shop Foreman.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations and address any issues promptly.
  • Ensure equipment/supplies are properly secured to prevent loss or vandalism.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies.
  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues in heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.

Qualifications
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Preference given to those with previous experience and already a registered apprentice.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess at minimum a valid class 5 driver’s license and acceptable driver’s abstract.
  • Preference given to those with previous experience and already a registered apprentice.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and peak period overtime.
