We are seeking a Transportation Manager
The Transportation Manager is the strategic and operational leader responsible for all transportation activities across all regions and business lines. This role ensures trucking becomes an integrated, disciplined, compliant, and measurable function aligned with corporate objectives. The position oversees fleet allocation, internal vs external trucking decisions, compliance programs, transportation systems, dispatcher capability, and regional performance to create a cost‑effective and optimized transportation function.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction for all transportation activities across all regions in Alberta.
- Establish and enforce transportation standards, processes, and policies.
- Ensure transportation strategy aligns with operational and commercial goals.
- Decide truck allocation, redeployment, and utilization across regions.
- Enforce internal-first truck utilization.
- Set and enforce haul card processes and dispatch standards.
- Oversee onboarding, compliance, and payment processes for external trucking.
- Partner with HSE to strengthen NSC compliance programs.
- Drive consistent and accurate pre-trip/post-trip inspections.
- Use telematics to correct unsafe driving behaviors.
- Maintain weekly transportation reporting on utilization, uptime, safety, and cost.
- Standardize data integrity and reporting processes across regions.
- Collaborate on fleet planning, rentals, shop decisions, and contract changes.
- Develop off-season utilization strategies to generate revenue.
- Provide oversight for dispatchers and transportation staff, assessing competency and training needs.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Heavy fleet and transportation management experience.
- Strong NSC compliance knowledge.
- Multi-region operational leadership experience.
- Strong system skills (Samsara, Business Central, telematics, reporting).
- Ability to coach, mentor, and address performance gaps decisively.
- Strong data integrity and reporting standardization capability.
- Ability to make sound operational decisions in dynamic environments.
- Experience developing and enforcing transportation processes and standards.
